What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
Comments
When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the information provided in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to aid in spam detection.
An anonymized string generated from your email address (a hash) may be shared with the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to our website, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the site.
Contact Forms
When you use our contact forms, we collect your submitted information to respond to your inquiries and provide support. This data is retained for communication and record-keeping purposes.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you have the option to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This is for your convenience, so you won’t need to re-enter this information for future comments. These cookies will be stored for one year.
When you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.
Upon logging in, we will set several cookies to save your login details and screen display preferences. Login cookies remain for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will be persistent for two weeks. Logging out of your account will remove the login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply identifies the post ID of the article you have just edited. It expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this website may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). This embedded content from external websites functions in the same way as if you had directly visited those websites.
These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with their embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to their site.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its associated metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognize and approve any subsequent comments without needing to hold them for moderation.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
